The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, made a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which he discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region.
Aoun briefed his French counterpart on the results of his visit to the United States, and the talks he held with US President Donald Trump and a number of American officials, which dealt with the situation in Lebanon and the post-agreement phase on the framework formula, and the path to implementing the provisions contained therein.
The research also touched on the situation in the south in light of the continued Israeli attacks on a number of southern villages and towns, and the necessity of putting an end to them and committing to a cessation of hostilities.
The two presidents discussed the period after the end of the mission of the international peacekeeping forces in the south (UNIFIL), and the importance of continuing international accompaniment to ensure the stability of the situation in the region.
Aoun and Macron agreed to keep communication channels open to follow developments.
